An interesting & very full sale the nucleus provided by a Washington County couple who collected for over 50 years and have now downsized to smaller quarters. Country Furniture & Smalls decorated their home throughout with a separate collecting focus of advertising/country store items. Surveying instruments from a Washington Co. Estate. More country furniture from a Queensbury home, again downsizing. A wide array of collecting interests.          Come Have Fun!

EARLY/COUNTRY FURNITURE to incl: particularly nice early country Chippendale lift lid 2 drawer blanket chest (only 34” wide). 2 door screen pie safe  in old gray paint. Nicely proportioned 7’2” corner cupboard w/12 pane glass door top & raised panel doors at base. 19thC dry sink w/3 drawers & shelf above. Early country Hepplewhite cherry swing leg dropleaf table. Early tiger maple wash bowl & pitcher stand w/drawer below. 2 door 2 drawer jelly cupboard in orig red wash. Early pine tilt-top hutch table. Small size single door screen pie safe in orig red wash. Small size 1 drawer lift lid blanket chest in orig red wash. Interesting large (7’9” x 4’9”) 2 part country secretary desk with history of having been made for a Keene Valley lodge in August 1876. Mid 1800’s hallway settle bench w/arms in dark old grain paint. Very small (ht 19”, w 24”) dovetailed blanket chest on turned legs w/till. 6’7” x 4’ mid 19thC jelly cupboard in original red/black (faux mahogany) grain paint. 2 large early tilt-top tea tables. Pa pumpkin pine doughbox on pegged base. 3 drawer lift lid pine blanket chest on base. 19thC 24” x 43” pine 12 drawer print/map cabinet. Early tilt-top candlestand. Very nice bucket bench. DT blanket box in old white paint, spinning wheel w/some old blue paint, & more Country.

BARN FINDS (see also Store Machines): Good as I’ve seen late 19thC 45” x 57” mechanical crank operated wood cased “Grader & Chopper” winnowing machine in near mint original red paint with black stenciled roosters decoration (2 men can easily move it). Neat grain bagging apparatus by “Gray’s Sons Middletown Vt” in good orig blue paint. C.1920 DeLaval No 15 cream separator. Blacksmith’s anvil marked “Superior 101 lbs Made in Sweden”. A few blacksmith tools. Heavy cast iron “Rockford Mfg Co No 1 Ideal” pipe bending(?) machine. Good standing apple press machine. 2 old cupboards needing work. Saddlemaker’s vise. Yarn winder, wooden barrel w/wooden staves, & other barny stuff. CANOE: 16’ polyethylene “Poly Line 3” canoe in good shape w/paddle.


STORE/ADVERTISING to incl very cool Pat’d 1912 “US Slicing Machine Co – Van Berkel’s Original” hand crank meat slicing machine w/sharpening attachment in original red paint and stencils. Fine 30” square commercial grade butcher’s block on legs. Neat 20’s/30’s belt driven cast iron commercial quality “Enterprise No 41 Meat Chopper”. Particularly nice Kokens barber’s chair w/headrest. C.1900 slant surface 7’ wide accounts/store type high desk on storage cabinets bases. 2 Toledo type country store meat weighing scales (1 in unusual blue paint). “Putnam Fadeless Dyes” cabinet. 14 advertising pocket mirrors. Exceptional 39” advertising thermometer by “Geiger Bros Producers of Distinctive Advertising Calendars” in working condition. Fine porcelain enameled “Thirsty - Just Whistle” sign. 1945 “DeLaval Milker” sign. 1920’s/30’s “DeLaval Oil” cans. 1945 “We Use The DeLaval Milker” sign. Exceptional c.1895 round brass frame “August Flower – German Syrup” patent medicine advertising thermometer (working) together with 1894 “August Flowers” almanac. Neat ©1928 “5¢ Cyclone Twister Cigars” hanging lithographed sign. Good pictorial lithographed advertising panels for: “Handy Package Dyes”, “Buffalo Forge Co – Buffalo NY”, “Ivory” soap, and “The Famous Dukes Smoking Tobacco” (all framed). 2 country store wooden case cash drawers/register bases. Landers, Frary, & Clark double wheel cast iron coffee grinder in orig paint/stencils (9” dia wheels). “O’Keeffe’s – Good Things To Eat” countertop food display showcase. Large original 1896 “Custer’s Last Fight” chromolithographed advertising print for Adolphus Busch. BOXES FULL good old advertising tins. 1930’s “Union Shop” barbershop sign. 5 framed advertising calendars incl “1908 Hood’s”. LARGE QUANTITY small/pocket size advertising tins. C.1900 “The Acorn (Stoves) Checker Board” & more advertising – some by the box full.


SURVEYOR’S: W & L.E. Gurley vernier pocket compass w/detachable telescope, thimble, and leveling head with original tripod & box. C.1910 C.L. Berger mining transit with telescope w/original box. 1890’s W. & L.E. Gurley Wye level complete with orig box. Fine Young & Sons Philadelphia transit/level/scope on tripod w/orig box, & more surveyor’s related instruments/material.

MORE SMALLS! cylinder form wooden dasher churn in vivid dark blue paint. Pantry boxes incl 1 in orig apple green paint w/bail handle. Older Am Indian blanket. Sg & dated 1860 oil portrait of handsome young boy & 19thC English o/c portrait of young girl. Colored glass kero lamps. Nice 36” diameter ship’s wheel. 3 pair snowshoes incl child’s size Indian made. Large fantastical 1980 colored pencil drawing titled “The Wolf Who Was a Friend II” by Brandon Vt artist Joan Curtis.
